The RINO
530HCxHCx is a
FRS/GMRS 2-Way Wireless Radio Integrated
With A Full-Featured GPSPlotter World
Basemap System. The Radio Provides
Wireless Two-Way Communications On FRS
(Family Radio Service) And GMRS (General
Mobile Radio Service) Radio Frequency Bands.
The RINO 530HCx FRS (Family Radio Service)
Channels Are Meant For Short Range
Communications; With 2 Mile Maximum Distance
In Best Conditions. The RINO 530HCx Also
Offers 15 High-Performance GMRS Channels,
And 8 GMRS Repeater Channels (U.S. Model
Version Only) For Communication Up To 14
Miles In Best Conditions.
Transition Power Output
The RINO 530HCx Has 3 User-Selectable GMRS
Transmission Power Levels: 0.5 W, 2.0 W, and
5.0 W (USA Model Version). The FRS
Channels Transmit At 0.5 W.

The RINO 530HCx Provides Many Features To
Enhance Wireless Communications, Such As
Transmitting The User's Current Position,
Or, Any Position And Receiving Other RINO
User's Position And Positioning Information.
Peer-to-Peer Positioning
Peer-to-Peer Positioning Is The Most Unique
Feature Of The RINO Radio Technology.
Each RINO Radio Is Able To Send Its Position
Coordinates, Automatically Or Manually To
Other RINO Radios; This Feature Is Called
'Peer-to-Peer Positioning'.
With Peer-To-Peer Positioning Enabled, and
the RINO Radio Has A GPS Position Fix,
Whenever The Call Button Or Talk Button Is
Pressed And Released, The Current GPS Fix
Coordinates Are Transmitted. This Position
Information Is Available To All Other RINO
Users Within Reception Range Who Are
Monitoring The Same Channel And Code
Combination. This Feature Adds A New
Dimension To Environment And Group
Awareness; Giving Each User A Map View
Position And Track Movement Of Each Other
RINO User, And Navigation Aid To Each Of
Them.
Contacts Position Awareness & Management
The First Time A Signal Is Received From A
New RINO User ID, A 'New Contact' Page Is
Displayed On The Receiving RINO Radio.
From The 'New Contact' Page, The User Now
Has Three Options: Select 'OK' To Add The
New Contact To The User's RINO's 'Contact
List'; Select 'Map' To View The Contact's
Position On The Map Page; or Select 'Go To'
To Have The RINO Proving Navigation Guidance
To To Contact's Sent Position Coordinates.
The
RINO 530HCx Deluxe Can Manage Up To 50 RINO
Radio Contacts.
Each time a RINO Radio signal is received
with contact position information, the map
page is updated, displaying the contact's
new position. A Track Log of
their movement is created and displayed on
the map page. After a contact
has been established, a “<Contact-name>
Updated” Message Box Briefly Appears At The
Bottom Of The RINO Display Each Time The
Contact Updates.
All Contacts Are Listed On The 'Find
Contact' Page And Are Displayed In The
'Contact Bar' On The Map Page When The
'Contact Bar' Is Enabled.
When The Contact Does Not Send A GPS Fix,
The Last Acquired Position Fix Is Used And A
'?' Question Mark Is Displayed In The
Location Field.
Sending Location
RINO Technology Gives The User The Ability
To Send Specific Position Coordinates To
Other RINO Users; Selectivity.
This Would Come In Handy When Determining A
Position On The Map To Meet, Then Sending
That Position To Another User Or everyone In
A Group. And, By Using The Channel And
Code Combinations, The User Can Control Who
Receives The Position Information.
Any Position In The RINO That Can Be Found
Using 'Find', Can Be Sent. If The RINO
Needs To Wait The Required 30 Second Break
(FCC Rule) Before Sending The Position
Information, A “Waiting to send location...”
Message Appears Until The RINO Is Able To
Transmit. If a location is sent more
than once, a number is automatically added
to the end of the name. |
The RINO 530HCx's 'Map' Page Displays The
User's Current GPS-Fixed Position As A
Triangular Graphic Icon. This Page
Is Actually The GPSPlotter Page With The
Garmin AutoRouting Basemap System.
Every Second The RINO Computes A Fixed
Position Based Off Current Received GPS
Satellite Data. Any Calculated
Movement Can Be Displayed As A Dotted
Line And "Tracked". When The User
Enabled The Tracking Feature, The RINO
350 Logs Detailed Position And Movement
Data. This Tracking Log Is Called
A "Track" And Can Be Saved In The RINO
And Transferred To A PC Computer.
The 'Map' (Garmin
Basemap) Displays Geographic Details
Such As Rivers, Lakes, Highways, Towns,
Etc.. The Map Can Be Custom Loaded
With More Map-Detail And AutoRouting
Data By The User, When Extra Map Data Is
Purchased And Transferred Into The RINO
530HCx; Using A PC Computer And The Garmin
MapSource Application Program.
Additional Map Data For The RINO 350 Is
Made Available On Garmin MapSource
CD-ROMs.
User Display Configuration
The RINO 530HCx Can Be Configured To
Display Just The Information Needed For
Each User's Applications. The Map
Page Comes With many Customizing
Options, Providing A Variety Of
Operating And Custom Features.
Show...
Data Fields—Displays two, three, or four
navigation data fields, Map Only, and
Contacts. Data fields can be programmed
to display various data options.
Pan Map - Select To Gain Control
Over A Map Pointer, Which Is Moved Using
The Mini Thumb Joy Stick. Press
The Joystick To "Enter" or "Select"
Options Or To Mark A Position On The
Map! By Clicking On Any Point On
The World Map, A New Waypoint Is

The RINO 350 Provides
An Advanced Magnetic Compass And
Integrated Navigation System! The
'Compass' Page Provides Active Guidance
With A Rotating Compass Ring Graphics;
Displaying The Course Heading While
Moving, And A Bearing Pointer To
Indicate The Current Direction To The
Destination (Bearing) Relative To The
Course.
Data
Fields Provide User-Selected Navigation
Information.
The Compass Ring
Functions as a magnetic compass when the
RINO is not moving, and is controlled by
the GPS receiver when moving in a
direction.
While Navigating a
'route', the bearing pointer indicates
the direction of the turn to the next
point in the route, as a bent arrow in
that direction; as well as the direction
to the current point when within 15
seconds of the 'Estimated Time of
Arrival' of the current point.
When the 'Course
Pointer' option enabled, drifting away
from
the original line of travel to the
destination will cause the Course
Deviation Indicator (CDI) to graphically
indicate the drift (right or left) and
displays the distance off course.
"Sight ‘N Go" Feature
Use the Sight ‘N Go
feature to locate a landmark visually
and then lock in a magnetic heading to
